Hi Nel

Yes, I think it looks that way. As I said there were several Mary Ann Williams born around that time, but I don't know if it would get you anywhere ordering certificates, as if she was illegitimate there wouldn't be a name for her father. If you need to get back further it might be worth sending for her mother and stepfather's marriage certificate which would give you her maternal grandfather's name.

Do have any extended information on the Berrys? I am researching the same name - all from Haverfordwest, Steynton and Coomb(s) in the same period. They, too, were connected with the sea - shipwrights, tidewaiters etc - and the sailmaker connections is interesting.
Any help/links etc appreciated.

Hi
I'm also researchig the Berry family around Milford Haven/Steynton area - grandfathers were Henry Dundas (marine engineer), John (ships carpenter/tide waiter), John (carpenter), Joseph (cabinet maker), James (carpenter), going back to early 1800's. Hope we're all looking for the same family, if you want to get in touch.

I think we are on the same tree. My great-great-grandfather was John Berry the tidewaiter and joiner you mention.  I am researching this line and have a detailed tree up on Ancestry.co.uk
I leave for the UK on Monday and intend visiting Wales to do some research.  Would love you to contact me via (*)

Hi Tony

Yes, I think we're both on the same path. Which of John Berrys' children do you descend from? My next one is Henry Dundas. He had a son (my great grandfather) & a daughter. His son only had one child (my grandmother). I'm not a subscriber to Ancestry.co, having always used a competitor, so can't access your tree.  I would like to know more, having not done any research for a few months (cold trails, dead ends etc.) & need something like this to refire my enthusiasm! My direct email is (*). Hope to hear from you soon.  Scott

I go from John the tidewaiter directly through his son Alfred Jabez to his son Alfred Berkeley to his son William Berkeley (my father). The family lived in South Wales until the ned of the 1800s and then moved to Plymouth and settle in Kent a few years later where my father was born in 1908. Contact me directly on (*) hopefully before I leave for the UK on Monday. Tony
