John Davidson shoemaker born circ. 1810
married to Catherine nee Patience and living in Avoch, Black Isle

Avoch Old Churchyard

Sacred to the memory of John Davidson, Shoemaker, Avoch born 1810 died 1853 and his beloved wife Catherine Patience born 1812 died 1880 and their son William aged 9 years, drowned at the pier of Avoch. Also Sarah Davidson wife of Wm Nelson died 31st March 1922 aged 73 years.

Two stones next to this one read

To the memory of Daniel Davidson, Ships Carpenter died 9th May 1871 aged 64 years. Also of his wife Margaret Jack died 18th June 1869 aged 72. Also their son Alexander Davidson who died in infancy.

and

1736 Sapper D Davidson, Royal Engineers 4th Nov 1916 age 38.

The 2 additional headstones are obviously related and I knew nothing about these folk. This is certainly something I will followup on.
