Census information Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

Hello all and thank you for viewing this post
I'm hoping that someone may have access to the parish records for Hirnant/Llanfyllin
I'm searching for information on Robert Jones (sorry, the most popular name in Wales maybe!)
He was born around 1781. The 1841 census has him married to Anne living in Ty Mawr, Hirnant.
I now live in Devon so any help or advice would be most appreciated
Many thanks

Hi Ceiriog
The only one that I can find b. Hirnant (there are a few in Llanfyllin) around that time is:
10 Feb 1778 Parents - William Jones and Elinor
As the 1841 rounded ages down into 5 year age groups and he was 60, he could have been born 1776-1781.
I'll see if I can find a marriage.
Do you have any children so that I could get a rough idea of a marriage date?

Hi again
I've searched the marriages 1795-1815 and this is the best I can find:
Llangynog (not far from Hirnant)
6 Feb 1804
Robert Jones (otp), bach, to Ann Williams, (otp), spinster. Both made their mark
Witnesses - Robert Roberts and Thomas Morris

Hi Gadget
Thanks for the info - i didn't realise they rounded the ages in the 1841 census!
The 1841 census shows a son, Owen who I believe was born on the 2nd of June 1833 with two further children - Mary and Josiah
There seems to be quite and age gap between the parents
Many thanks for your input (this genealogy thing can be quite a challenge)

Hmmmmmmmm
Childrens's birth's don't fit in with the 1804 marriage - they would have been married nearly 30 years when Owen was born and more with the others.
I'm wondering about a second marriage.
How old was Ann on the 1841? - I see that she was 45-49
I'll have look around to see if there were later marriages.

Owen's baptism was, as you have it. Josiah was b. 16 May 1839.. Again, Ann(e)'s maiden name is not given. I don't see a birth registration for him though
I don't see the family on the 1851, except Owen who is a servant in Llanfechan - HO107/2499 F 418 P 13
