Thank-you so much Dawn! Once I receive the certificates which I am hoping might arrive today, my next step will be to try and get more information on Frederick's birth and David and Elizabeth's marriage. (as per Meliora's latest post).

Do you know if these parish records (St Lukes, Finsbury) are also house at the Archives office?

Again, thank-you for going out of your way to help.

Sandra

Hi Sandra

Yes they are at the London Metropolitan Archives (LMA).

I'll try to check them out for you early next week.

I'm not at work on Thursday & Friday and I go to the LMA in my lunch-time.

Hi Dawn,
I don't want to be presumptuous or pushy but I was wondering if you had had a chance to look for the baptism records of David and Elizabeth's children (as listed a few posts previously)?
Thanks

Hi Sandra

I feel really bad for letting you down  Cry

I've just checked my files and your request is mis-laid.

I have just reprinted it and it is now at the top of the pile.

I am working away from the office next week, but will be back on the 9th September.

Hi Sandra

I've checked out the baptisms from the register for St Luke's Old Street Finsbury.

The dates are all correct and all the baptisms are entered in the same format

(Child's name) (S or D of) David Bell Carpenter & Elizabeth

Hope this helps.

ps There is also another entry on 11th April 1787 for Elizabeth, d of William Bell carpenter & Elizabeth, born Oct 1786

Now I know David's occupation.

Willliam Bell ? Could be a brother to David.. will give me something further to look for.

Thanks again for going out of your way for me.

Yes, thank-you. I paid the required amount and received a copy of the baptism certificate.

I have now contacted the London Archives office and paid to get a copy of Frederick's baptism certificate.. as confirmed by you.

The next thing I would like to find is a record of marriage for David Bell and Elizabeth ?. I also intend to follow the lead you gave me.. with William. He must be some be some relation with the children being baptised on the same day and the occupation of both fathers being "carpenter".  My bet is that they are brothers. I don't know if I will ever solve the riddle but it is fun trying!

Thanks again, Dawn. your help has been invaluable. Let me know if you are ever in Melbourne and I will shout you a good Aussie wine (or two)!
