Hi

I wonder if anyone would be kind enough to lookup the birth of JAMES FERGUSON born BELFAST 1861-63.

Possible parents are James Ferguson & Eliza McKown (married Belfast 1860)

My only records of James are UK Census 1901 & 1911

1901: Married, 25 Devonshire Road, West Ham, London Age 38: Iron Turner / Fitter
1911: Married: Age 50: Locksmith: Belfast, Ireland: 9 Rayleigh Road W Kensington, London

Afraid it's not that simple- civil registration of Irish births started in 1864 so for earlier dates you need to search for church records (if they exist) but to do so you need to know both the family's religion and where they lved (parish if not actual townland/street).

I'm afraid I have absolutely no idea of those facts. I only narrowed it down to Belfast recently.

He was probably Protestant as I don't think that side of my wife's family are Catholics.

Oh well! was worth a try. Maybe someone will come across him.
