That would be in the Bradfield registration district.

Just a word of warning. Although Bucklebury was in the Bradfield Reg Dist, sometimes registrations were made by people living on the outskirts (Bucklebury Alley etc) at Newbury.

It's possible that Thomas remarried:

1851 census:
Bucklebury - Hamlet in Lower Common
(incidentally Scotland is an area of Bucklebury - from the 1841 info)

Thomas, 44, head, Agricultural Labourer
Elizabeth, 44, wife
Edward, son, 20, Agricultural Labourer
Charles, son, 18. Agricultural Labourer
Harriet, daur, 14
William, son, 11
Daniel, son, 9
Mary A, daur, 8
Thomas, son, 6

all born Bucklebury except Elizabeth - London.

In the 1861 census, the family has moved:

Plumstead
Thomas, head, 54, labourer main sewer
Elizabeth, wife, 54
William, son, 22, labourer main sewer

Thomas & William b Bucklebury, Elizabeth born Stepney Middlesex

(there are two lodgers in the houshold as well)

Moors,

I've just been having another look at the census (and one of the early replies).   There are two William WELLS registered in Bradfield District (1839 and 1842).  We have looked at the 1839 one, but this may not be the correct individual !

Do you have any data to point to an individual ??

The better bet is "1839". The 1841 and 1851 Censuses for this family indicate that William was born before 1841.

It seems possible that after 1841 Jane died:

Deaths Mar 1848
Wells  Jane    Bradfield  6 125

and Thomas remarried:

Marriages Dec 1850
BROOKS  Elizabeth    Bradfield  6 281
Wells  Thomas     Bradfield  6 281

and if so, per the 1841 and 1851 Censuses, William was born before 1842.

i.e.

Births Jun 1839
WELLS  William
Bradfield  6 152

Hello Moors

As with all things genealogical - Who Knows!!

But it is usually worth investigating the more logical sequences first and then moving on when they collapse (as they sometimes - or should should that be "often" - do!).

Enjoy your tea and place your bets!
