Moors
I see from your other post that Suzard found the family in 1861 and that Henry had died.
Can't find them at the moment in 1871 but have the following marriage for the daughter Mary Ann at Godmanchester Samuel Jeffs father Samuel Jeffs Mary Ann Bates father Henry Bates 15th October 1867

Hi Moors
I think I may have found Julia E Bates in 1901 RG13 P1525 f17 p25 living at 12 Richmond Road, Chesterton, Cambridgeshire age 26 a Domestic Nurse bn Gibraltar. Unfortunately it has not been transcribed as Bates and I can't open the image fully. The transcription is Julia E Baks on FMP. Perhaps SKS can check this for me on A***ry for me please.
Thanks Rosie

The image looks like Julia E Baks, and has been transcribed as such on Ancestry. However there's a Carpenter higher up the page where the te looks very much like the k of Baks, so perhaps it is Bates, But numerous other te s on the same page eg Chesterton are clearly te with a crossed t, where the baks k has no sign of a cross stroke on what would be the t. The jury is still out!
