The image looks like Julia E Baks, and has been transcribed as such on Ancestry. However there's a Carpenter higher up the page where the te looks very much like the k of Baks, so perhaps it is Bates, But numerous other te s on the same page eg Chesterton are clearly te with a crossed t, where the baks k has no sign of a cross stroke on what would be the t. The jury is still out!

David

Thank you Very much David.  Smiley
The FMP image was only partly opening, and not the side with the names on it.  Roll Eyes
I have found her in 1911 still in England whereas the others are still hiding, probably abroad.

To everybody who has been helping me with this Bates family. A disaster it is the wrong Bates family, reason. There were two Arthur Ernest Bates registered Dec. Qtr. 1880 Chatham Kent. I have found out, my son in law decided to clear out the attic, found a box of his Mothers which had been put up there 16years ago, inside some certificates.
Arthur Ernest Bates Father Joseph Mother Ann Elizabeth Francis formerly Atkinson. I am very sorry about this mistake, I hope this willnot stop you helping me trace this family, which I have found on the 1881 census wife living RG/11/0887/46/20 Joseph is a bargeman and is sailing on the "SPRING" a captain (B) Stoke Kent age 43 years, he is NOT on the Free BMD site so obviously (B) before these records, he is NOT on Familysearch either. His wife was (B) 1843 Medway Jun. Qtr. Medway. They were (M) 1862 Medway .
If you can help with this family I would be very grateful. Ann

I'm new to this - my first posting - so please excuse me if I'm on the wrong page....  I came across you because I am researching the name BUBB in Bucks. It looks as if  you are too. How can we 'chat' about this without inconveniencing people looking for lookups in Huntingdonshire....? Your, hopefully, MLS, in Sydney.
