orpanages/childrens homes/asylums in arbroath

hello i hope someone can help Smiley im looking for childrens homes,orphanages,asylums etc,in arbroath,apparently i had an uncle who had got a head injury as a child and my mother remembers visiting him in arbroath,not sure how old he was but would have been sometime in the 50s,my mother was vague about this so not much info,thanks for any help Smiley

It just struck me that any records may be so recent that they will still be closed, - as in a birth in the last 100 (possibly 75) years.

  thanks for that,never thought of that myself! but i did find out the name of an orphanage was called elms mansion,but couldnt find out much about it,thanks  Smiley

The Elms is now derelict. Don't know what the council is thinking. It is quite a substantial building built by someone who was involved in the flax trade. I know a child of the people who ran it at one time.
