Hi everyone
I wonder if anyone can tell me anything about the war memorial at St Mary the Virgin Church, Childswickham please? Is it inside the church or outside? It is a free-standing memorial or a plaque on the wall? My ancestor, George Tinson, of the KSLI is apparently on it. He died in the Boer War and was from Upton on Severn so I'm not quite sure why he appears on the Childswickham memorial. Does anyone know whether the memorial is dedicated the men of Worcestershire perhaps? I don't know of any connections he had to Childswickham. He does appear on a memorial plaque in the church at Upton as well as in Shrewsbury (KSLI connections) and also at Hereford Cathedral (he started out with the Herefordshire Militia).
Additionally, if anyone should have a photo of the memorial they could e mail to me I would be very grateful. Many thanks! Julie

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I've pretty much exhausted all the avenues online. The memorial on the "inventory of war memorials" site refers to the plaque inside the church at Upton on Severn. I suspect it's a similar thing at St Mary's the Virgin, Childswickham but I was hoping someone who perhaps frequents, or has visited Childswickham church, would know more. If all else fails I suppose I could try and contact the church itself.
Many thanks. Julie

You may already have this information but if not then contact a Mr Halling, who is chairman of the parish council.
Hope you get a result. Sorry I removed the email address but will pm it to you.
