I am wanting to check for ancestors in Willoughby prior to 1702. This is the start date for entries on the Vital Records Index, and the IGI takes over from that later on. Could anyone tell me when baptism, marriage and burial registers commenced at Willoughby, and where and in what format the entries before 1702 can be viewed?

Thanks, Carol. I couldn't find anything definitive on the website, but I'll email them and see if they can help.

Thanks Jane. I did contact Notts Archives, and they said they had christenings from 1670, marriages from 1682 and burials from 1670. They also had BT christenings from 1627. But as the church has been there since the 13th century, I would guess that registers started to be kept in the 16th century as at most other places - so what has happened to the early ones? Perhaps your contact has the answer - I look forward to hearing from him!
Regards Richard

Hi
The contact is a friend of a colleague and I also know him vaguely from social persuits. If the information exists I am quite confident this person will find it. He apparently is deeply into local history particularly based around the church. I had detailed information before and my colleague also provided many photos of the churchyard and gravestones for the enquirer.
I don't want to get you too excited but if it is there I think we will find it. Of course the flip side is there may not be any information. I will keep you updated. If you want any of the general photos of the churchyard let me know as I must have them somewhere.
It will help if you send me as much information as you have on your query, what you know already and also what you want to know. This can either be done as a PM or send me your email address via PM. Don't post it on the public pages.
From your profile you are fairly new to this site. If you do not know how to send a PM just say and I will talk you through it. On your profile you do not say where you are based so I don't know how well you know Nottm.
Regards
Jane
