Does anybody have a copy of the MI booklet for Aberdour? I am interested in Stone No. 48. The surnames are Stewart, Gordon, Cooper and Gaul. If anyone can provide a copy of the transcription, it would be much appreciated!

Here's the information;
"Erected by SAMUEL STEWART in memory of his father JAMES STEWART late farmer in New Aberdour d.11 Apr.1845 aged 61:much respected through life & regretted at death.Also his mother MARY GORDON d.25 Nov.1861 aged 81:his son GEORGE d.in infancy 23 Apr.1852. The said SAMUEL STEWART d 12 May 1898 aged 84 & his wife ELSIE COOPER d.10 May 1894 aged 79 are interred in Nellfield Cemetery,Aberdeen.Also interred here SOPHIA STEWART sister of the above SAMUEL STEWART d.9 Jan 1908 in 90th year & her husband PETER GAUL d.21 Jan 1908 after a married life of 61 & 1/2 years."

Stone 49 may also interest you:
"In memory of Alexander Steawrt (sic) feuar in Aberdour d.24 Mar. 1803 aged 47 and of Margaret Mwrray (sic) his spouse d. 8 Apr. 1798 aged 36/39. This stone is erected by James Stewart there (sic) son also their dau. Elisabeth d. 19 Aug. 1853 aged 32."
Possibly the above Jameses Parents?

Thanks for this! James's age on Stone 48 gave his birth as approximately 1783/84. I can confirm that stone 49 is referring to his parents with an IGI entry:

Excellent! Hopefully the information on stone 49 can take you back even further.
Aberdour graveyard is quite generous in that way. Three generations of my family are buried side by side there (that is why I thought 49 may be handy).
