John Harrold - christening (Completed)
« on: Tuesday 14 July 09 13:17 UTC (UK) »

Hi

I am looking for a christening for John Harrold, who according to the Census' was born in Bramcote in 1816/1817.  His father according to his marriage certificate was Edward (who married Lydia).

I cannot find a suitable entry on the IGI although i note a number of children christened to Edward and Lydia eitherside of this date in either Burton Hastings or Wolvey.

If somebody has access to the Parish records can you please have a quick look to see if a christening for John around that time is registered in either Burton Hastings (first child christened here), Wolvey (later children were christened here) or Bulkington (where Edward and Lydia later moved to).

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the interest

I noticed that Burton Hastings record but i believe that John to be a different John - the father is listed as Joseph Harrold who is possibly Edward's brother.  Edward is clearly listed on John's marriage certificate and i have found Edward on the various census' to confirm his existance.  Joseph and Sarah are also listed as a separate family with a umber of other children.

All a bit strange!

Hi

I think i've found him and a possible sister christened in wolvey under the names of John   ARRALL(1816) and Harriett ARRALL (1820).  I live near to Bulkington and Harrold would be pronounced Arrold with the local dialect.

Julie

What clever detective work!  Thats them.  They are the only two christenings that i am missing!  I would never have found them!!  The unusual combination of parent names gives me comfort of that as well as the fact that you have found Harriet too!

Thank you so much!  Now i just need to find John on the 1841 Census!  If anybody can find that i would be very grateful.  He was married to Ellen Whitmore in 1844 in Leire so he has got to be round that area somewhere!

Kind regards

Yes  That was truly amazing detective work!

Just John's 1841 census now and also i could do with his father's christening, Edward Harrold, from about 1794, again born in Bramcote.......

I have located an Edward Orroll, baptised in Burton Hastings in 1798.  Perhaps this is John's father going by the information that Julie discovered?
