William Loveland, aged 88 years, (137 Wb'oro' Rd) this was the St Edmunds Hospital 61, Purser Road, died 31st Jan 1950, buried Feb 2 1950 at Billing Rd, grave no. 15562.

My daughters ancestor on her fathers side was at 137 A Wellingborough Rd in 1914. I hadnt realised it was connected to the workhouse?? I only know they were there because their son Richard Durden was killed in action in 1914, and I saw the address on his war records.

At that time the Workhouse would have become St Edmunds Hospital.
Although folk from the Town still dreaded going in, never expecting to come out.
