Jane Roberts, Llanfechell b 1866

I've come to a dead end with this Jane Roberts, who appears on 4 censuses, all with the given birthplace of Llanfechell.  She appears to have been born in 1866, as all her ages follow on logically  ie  1881 aged 15, living with her cousin Humphrey Roberts (elder brother of my G Grandfather Evan Roberts) and his then wife, as cousin/servant at 7 Market Street, Llanbeblig, Caernarfon.
By 1891, aged 25, she was working as a housemaid in a doctor's house in Bangor, and by 1901 aged 35, she had moved to work in newtown, Montgomery as a housekeeper domestic.  On  the latest census of 1911 aged 45, she was back in Caernarfonshire, now married to her cousin Humphrey, who had been widowed before 1901.

I have been able to check their marriage in 1902 via the register office archives in Llandrindod Wells, but the name of her father is not given, so I have been unable to find out more about her birth in Llanfechell.  I have spoken to the registrar at Llangefni, who cannot locate a birth record for her, without more clues.

Does anyone have any ideas?  I had hoped that finding her parentage would have given me some info about my G G grandfather's siblings, as I can't get any further back with my Roberts family.  Help, please!!

I can't find Jane Roberts on the 1871 census. I think Humphrey and Evan's parents are Evan and Jane Roberts and are living in Llanfor/Llanfawr in Merionethshire in 1851 and according to the census were both born there which you probably knew already. I can't get back any further than that. The parish records for Llanfor would be your best bet.

Yes, I know about Humphrey and Evan's siblings  and their life in Llanfor etc -  quite a lot, in fact, but I've been trying to go sideways with trying to find the parentage of the Jane Roberts from Anglesey, as I can't link her directly into the family.  Their are so many Jane Robertses in my family, that you'd think they would have found a more original name, to avoid confusion!!

Yeah I know what you mean. Royal names like John, Mary, William, Richard, Anne, Elizabeth and Jane were very common in North Wales at this time it seems. It's surprising how few Welsh christian names you come across. And with a small number of very common surnames as well it can make it very hard to be sure you've got the right person.

On the 1871 census there are 17 Jane Robertses on Anglesey born 1865-67 but none of them were born in Llanfechell. There are a few in nearby Amlwch but without knowing her mother's name (which is the thing you're looking for) it's difficult to know if you've got the correct one.

There is an Ann Roberts, aged 44, living in Llanbadrig, Anglesey and born in Llanfor, Merionethshire on the 1871 census. Could she be related?
