What a great start to the new series  Smiley
I've never been a huge fan of Davina, mainly because I don't like the dross that is Big Brother  Grin  However, her story is really amazing and very interesting, and it has given me a whole new insight into what she is really like.
I won't go into detail as some of you won't have seen the programme yet, but I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Much better than I expected, not being a Davina fan. Smiley  Did you notice the family nose cropping up in various members?

I think it was an object lesson in not judging someone by the job they do!

I think we can also assume that the "mother" she talks to in the adverts isn't her real mother .....

Let's hope this means the BBC are back on track. We actually had great grandparents rather than the one generation stuff they gave us in the last series!!

Thoroughly enjoyed it - and, I agree, I warmed to Davina - and I really didn't think I would.  Shocked

apparently that "is" her step-mother in the hair adverts.

I met Davina about 6/7 years ago and she is lovely..... very unpretentious, just some of the programs she's in are not to everyones tastes.

Yes I had noticed the likeness. How refreshing that a celebrity hasn't had a nose job.

It might have been interesting to find family in censuses.
Maybe Davina will do that herself! Undecided

Thanks for that, Nanny Jan - I couldn't see it tonight, and couldn't find a repeat in this week's TV times.

First WDYTYA I've seen where the Ancestors were more interesting (and probably more famous) than the subject  Roll Eyes

Of course, she already knew the names of her ancestors, and the BBC provided the resources for her to meet with all the genealogists, historians etc.

I did find it interesting, although I had to laugh when she did a search on IGI for her paternal g.grandfather and all she put in was his name.  She searched on All events, and didn't put in any dates, or even the country and yet, surprise surprise, up popped her g.grandfather.

Having just done the same search myself, I see she was very lucky in that there were only 5 James Bedborough's listed.  Three were in the 1881 census and 2 were baptisms in the British Isles.  When I did a similar search just putting in my g.grandfather's name I got 460 options  Roll Eyes
