I need a little help along the way !!

George Street married Alice Pawson in NZ in 1896.
His Marriage Cert shows Thomas as father, Mary Ann (nee Barrett) as mother.
Birth Cert shows birth 24 Sept 1854 in Nettlebed, Henley, Ox. England with mother listed as Mary Ann Street - no maiden name and no father.
He appears in NZ on 1881 Electoral Roll as Contractor at Pahaoa, Wairarapa, then is shown in NZ Gazette of 1904 and 1917 as Postmaster at Whareama, Wairarapa. He had children George and Doris at Whareama school in early 1900's.
He died 2 Aug 1927 in NZ.
Searching in Oxfordshire, http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,386489
led to no definite conclusions as to parents or whereabouts after 1854.
So possibly parents listed on Marriage Cert may be fictitious 
Possibly a reference to him as 17yr old 'lodger' in 1871 UK Census.
So I'm assuming  he traveled to NZ in-between 1871 and 1881.
Can anyone help with information on when/how he arrived in NZ, and where he might be buried?

Many Thanks Althea, that's a big help.
Yes, he seems to have spent most of his life in Wairarapa, so wonderful to have found where he's buried. The Kiwicelts site had a link to http://www.angelfire.com/az/nzgenweb/cemeteryw.html which shows names at Tinui Cemetery, but no sign of George and Alice. Maybe they have no headstones and that is why they are missing
Yes, I'd seen the 1861 reference - about the only George Street that fits. I think it was a 'workhouse' and that George's mother and two siblings are listed as well.
But is it the right George Street
