Hi,

Thanks again for your interest in this topic, although it seems obvious that these two children are from different families as shown on census I have to say that I've been caught out in the past as far as census info. goes  Smiley - I thought if I could have a positive baptism for John Richard Hounslow as the son of William Henry & Eliza Harriett Hounslow then no one could dispute the findings; as we all know this hobby can be an expensive and a little help here and there is a bonus.

I'm very grateful for any help and have been very interested to read everyone's comments.

John Richard HOUNSLOW was baptised at St Peter Le Bailey, Oxford on 26 April 1871, the son of Henry William and Eliza Harriet HOUNSLOW, gas fitter of 2 Bridge Street, St Ebbe's, Oxford.

Also baptised at St Peter Le Bailey were the following:

3 Jan 1869  William Henry, son of William Henry and Eliza HOUNSLOW, bellhanger of Paradise St
21 Apr 1878  Louisa Laura, dau of William Henry and Eliza HOUNSLOW, gasfitter of 16 Friars Wharf
10 Nov 1880  Alexander Sydney, son of William Henry and Harriet Eliza HOUNSLOW, gasfitter of 16 Friars Wharf
13 Sep 1882  Edith Matilda dau of William Henry and Harriet Matilda HOUNSLOW, gasfitter of 16 Friars Wharf
11 Nov 1885  Willie John son of William Henry and Harriet Eliza HOUNSLOW, gasfitter of 12 Friars Wharf
24 Nov 1886  Alice Mary dau of William Henry and Eliza Harriet HOUNSLOW, gasfitter of 13 Friars Wharf
14 Jun 1893  Nelson son of William Henry and Eliza Harriet HOUNSLOW, fitter of 13 Friars Wharf

I found no marriage for this couple in the transcript of St Peter Le Bailey registers at Oxfordshire Record Office, nor did  find any burials for the above children.

Hi Orpheus,

Thank you for the baptisms listed above it's vey kind of you to take the time to list all the baptisms you found for this couple.

As  said previously various Hounslow family trees have listed these children as brother & sister, actually some trees have Eliza Harriet Bourton married to Henry Charles Hounslow; a marriage registration on Freebmd shows her husband's name is William Henry Hounlow and various census records have shown that  these are two are completely different families.  Both of these families show (most of the time) the mother's name as Eliza, which I believe has caused the confusion especially as the two men have the name Henry (albeit a middle name in one case)

Thank you for confirming John Richard Hounslow's baptism. I am extremely grateful for your help.
