Help please with James Humphries Or Humphreys

Hi all,
I would be most grateful if any-one can give me information on a James Humphreys/humphries born in Manchester in abt 1872, now I do not know his wife's name but possible they had three children Robert, Fred and Richard. Not certain of the dates of birth, but to be around about 1891 on wards I believe, and in Lancashire, and maybe at Oldham.

Have you looked for any possible marriages on Lancashire or Free BMD to get a wife's name?

1901 RG13; Piece: 3815; Folio: 47; Page: 21

James Humphreys single 29 yrs Steam Engine Fitter b Manchester

is living in Oldham with his mother Temperance, a sister and a 16 yr old niece (grandaughter to Temperance).

I have looked on Free BMD and there is a Richard Stanley Humphreys b 1910 Oldham but of course no idea if he is the one you mean. Huh

You could also check 1911 census perhaps?

Hi Heywood,
Thanks for your reply, the one living with Temperance is the correct one, perhaps he got married after 1901 and had the children later from early 1900's, can you find the other children, Fred and Robert. Without confusing matters there is another James Humphries born 1892 oldham the son of Guy.

But your James is born 1872 Manchester Huh

There was another in 1891, I think, a James H Humphries b 1870 but glad to know that the Temperance one is right.

You may know that - Guy is James' father and there is also a brother Guy.

Hi Heywood,
That's Brilliant, That has given me the information on James Children and who he married. I still got a couple of questions who was Guy wife I believe it to be Mary Hannah Greenwood born 1861 Todmorden, is this correct ?
Also why was James not with Guy on the 1901 cens, and could you please give me the information (if you can) of James with Temperance on the 1901 cens. Also it would be useful to check them on the 1891 cens too. If you can not do this perhaps someone else can help me out.
