After spending about 5 hours in Manchester library today..i have found a Link to one of my Ancestors..(along with 4 other new details)

My 2nd Greatgrandfather George Thornley (b1848) was married in 1875 and the witness's were a Thomas and Emma Benson (b 1844) (nee Thornley, ref Freebmd).

I am trying to find the relationship between George and Emma

I have Georges Birth certificate (no fathers details) Mother - Mary Ann Thornley

I need fresh eyes, any help would be appreciated.

Emma was born in Macclesfield Cheshire according to the 1871 census and on the 1851 census her mother is Sarah a widow b Prestbury

for you to keep in your notes....this family from Hatherton......
John James Thornley marries Emma Walker on 3rd July 1851...in Hatherton..John is from Barthomely...Emma is stated as a minor,so she`s anything from 14-21.....children
Ann Thornley 26th May 1852 
Charles John Thornley 29th September 1857
John James Thornley 10th November 1861....
Thornley doesn`t appear to be a common name so may be worth looking into this family...I`ll check how far from Macclesfield to Hatherton....21 miles from Barthomley to M/field....30 miles from Hatherton to M/field.....doesn`t look too hopeful but you never know...
