I would like to get a birth certificate for a great grandfather John Campbell Colquhoun  migrated to australia  in 1858
on  the Macro Polo on his australian marriage certificate his father was Alexander Colquhoun ....mother Laura Campbell but we think it is Flora not Laura .......   place of birth Lanarkshire Glasgow Scotland we think he was born 1833/34 ........any  body got a clue on a birth certificate for this bloke  Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh

Sorry not finding anything on a birth or marriage at the moment but here they are in 1841 from FREECEN http://www.freecen.org.uk/cgi/search.pl showing John and younger children born at Lanarkshire but Alexander, Flora and the 2 oldest were from another county.

This appers to be the family in 1841 and John is down as born Lanarkshire Huh

You can purchase on line if you wish but I dont know if you will find much more information.

  If you go to the site below you will need to register. Have a little look around the site first  before you buy credits ...30credits for 6pounds = about $13 australian.
It will cost 1 credit to have a look at a bit of the record (like the one I have given you) and another 5 credits to download the full certificate.

I think we may be distantly related. Alexander COLQUHOUN and Flora CAMPBELL were my 4 x gt grandparents. I am descended through their daughter Agnes (John Campbell's sister). they were married on 27 Dec 1825 in Barony. Alexander was a weaver at that time. Ref is OPR Marriages 622/8160 0150 Barony. As far as I can ascertain, they had 5 children
Margaret 29 Apr 1827 Barony 622/0080/0285
Agnes Jarvey 29 mar 1829 Paisley Abbey 559/0060/0282
Robert 11 Feb 1831 Paisley Abbey 559/0060/0330
John Campbell 31 mar 1833 Paisley Abbey 559/0070/0032
Alexander Swan 2 Aug 1835 Glasgow 644/001/0340/0222 
The References are for the OPR births/baptism records.
The middle names were usually family surnames - this has persisted right down into my generation today.
I didn't know that John Campbell had been sent to Australia - all rather interesting. My Agnes ended up in Liverpool England.
