Yes, that does say "CU+G829RRIER". Must be a blooper by the LRFHS, and I suspect that it should say "carrier".

Hi Laura
Couldnt help but be impressed with your quick response to Sue's 'Hudson' issue. I have exactly the same problem with trying to investigate Peets through the Oakham Parish Records. The current patriarch of my tree is a Thomas Peet Born abt 1683 in Oakham, married Sarah Rawson in Newark Dec 1704 but lived and brought up their family back in Oakham, Thomas died 16 Nov 1741 in Oakham.
Can anyone help shed some light on any further details on 16th Century Peets please?
Many Thanks
Tim

Hi,
I didn’t find a baptism for Thomas Peet in Oakham, apart from the one in 1705/6, who I assume is his son? I also looked in the other villages that I have – no joy. These are the Peet baptisms that I found. Maybe the earlier ones are by earlier wives? Perhaps he was born elsewhere, and his family moved to Oakham.
27, NOV, 1700, JOHN, PEAT, S/O, THO / ELIZ, , OAKHAM 23, SEP, 1702, FRANCIS, PEET, S/O, THO / ELIZ, , OAKHAM 21, JAN, 1705/6, THOMAS, PEET, S/O, THOMAS / MARY, , OAKHAM 27, APR, 1708, RICHARD, PEET, S/O, THOMAS/ELIZABETH, , OAKHAM 16, JUL, 1710, SAMUEL, PEET, S/O, THOMAS/SARAH, MR & MRS, OAKHAM 12, MAY, 1712, ELIZABETH, PEET, D/O, THOMAS/SARAH, , OAKHAM 6, SEP, 1714, WILLIAM, PEET, S/O, THOMAS/SARAH, , OAKHAM

Wow Laura - what a star! Thank you so much. The info you have found will help validate a few children. I presume the only other way I'm going to find out more about Thomas Snr is to spend some time in Rutland?!
Thanks again
Tim

Hi again,
Well assuming that he came from one of the other Rutland villages or Leicestershire, you could visit the Leicester & Rutland records office in Wigston, which is on the eastern outskirts of Leicester. They hold parish records and lots of other interesting information which you won't find anywhere else, including wills for example. The staff there are very helpful, which isn't always the case at other offices. Or you can borrow any parish record in fiche form from the Mormon genealogy people, and view them on one of their local fiche readers, if you don't have a reader of your own. There is always one pretty close unless you live in a remote area http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp. I haven't done this yet myself, but am told by people that have that it's very simple. I obtaned my transcribed records from the LRFHS - Leic & Rutland Family History Society http://www.lrfhs.org.uk/. They are gradually transcribing all of the Rutland parish records, and have so far published 2 CDs, covering Oakham, Uppingham and a lot of the villages - see my post in Rutland lookup offers for details. I assume they will be releasing a 3rd CD in time, which may complete the set, I don't know. So you could wait for that. When I get a minute I will have another look for Peets in the marriages and deaths and post again. Good luck.
