All census, Smith, look-up please

Forenames: William Phillips. Surname: Smith. Born September 1889; birth registered November 1889. Birth informant was the mother, Sarah Ann Smith, living in Buxton, Derbyshire.
He was my uncle, born before marriage. Father not named on certificate, but parents, James Phillips and Sarah Ann Smith, did marry in January 1890, at the Parish Church, Matlock. They later had my father, Thomas, in 1894.
I'm looking to find my uncle, William Phillips Smith, on all census records, and to find more relatives that way.
I would be be most grateful if you can help.

I opened the link you gave and entered all the names but nothing was found.
To check if the site worked I even tried members on my mother's side of the family, details I know exist, but they too could not be found.
My father, Thomas, lived on to have all of us, but his birth family might have all died before 1911 for all I know now.
They can't have disappeared without a trace. Please advise me if I need to place another look-up request on a new topic - Death records.

There is a William Phillips Smith, age 21, born Buxton living at Barton upon Irwell, Lancs in 1911.

There is also a Sarah Ann Phillips aged 42 b Buxton living in Barton on Irwell in 1911

Plus - Hannah 11  Harold 14  Thomas 16 - all b Buxton

I haven't located the details yet. I see that I have to buy credits, yet CaroleW said there is a free index. How can I get that? Sorry if I am being a nuisance, but I am wondering about the 'free' bit. Maybe I'm getting it wrong.  Embarrassed


Modify: I am not getting notifications when a reply is posted, yet I have checked my profile and it is requested there, can anyone help please? At the moment I am checking the forum manually. I hope it can be fixed. Cheers, x

I did that on Tuesday, when I first read your message, and I am still getting "We found no records for your search..."
I've tried known records of my mother's side of the family and the same happens - no records. It's a mystery.
I can't turn up an entry to see it in the index so if I just go and buy credits I think the same will happen - no records.
It must be my computer. I'll have someone take a look this weekend and try to find out what is causing the problem.

I think the birth year should be 1869.

My apologies - you are right.  She was 42 in 1911 so birthyear is 1869

Right, done that. I've seen the entry with her dob of 1869, but, there is still a problem, or two.
Firstly, I have her birth certificate copy and she was born in 1868 on 3 October. I entered that year, entered Exact and - it happened again - no record! Yet it showed the record of her with the dob of 1869 (?)
Secondly, I entered known details of yet another relative and the same happened there - no record.
Time to give up - or buy credits!
Anyway, I appreciate your help, thanks a lot, I will keep trying.

She was still 42 when the census was taken in April 1911

So when transcribing the details - if you subract 42 from 1911 you ger 1869
