Erm, that is correct, whichever way it is viewed, she was still 42 by April 1911.
The subtraction works too, but maybe because their computer also works that way somehow, and doesn't take into account the year change after her birth date.
I am confused by this. I expected to get her details using her actual year of birth. Maybe I should use the +/-1 option. I'll give that a try next.

Notes re the Birth year on the 1911 Census:

Only the age for each person was required to be given on the census schedule completed by the head of the household; the date of birth that is listed in the database and the transcript is merely a calculation by findmypast from the age that was given.

This has been done to faciltate searching but you will not necessarily get the birth year by using the actual year of birth because findmypast does not know the actual date of birth of each person on the census. 

Also, it was very common for people not to give accurate information (or even to tell lies) about their age on the census, so even if you have other official documentation that states a person's age, you should bear in mind that this may not agree with the census form.
