St. Luke's Church Tranmere & Normanston Road, Oxton
« on: Tuesday 21 July 09 19:57 UTC (UK) »

Hiya,

Might be a bit of an odd one.  But just wondering if anyone on here has a photograph of St. Luke's Church, Tranmere before it was demolished.  I have contacted the library and they haven't got one.  My nan and grandad got married there, it would be good to see what it looked like.

Also, I have a photo of Normanston Road, Oxton.  It is of a street party.  Not sure what the celebration was, but in it is my Aunt, my grandmother and great grandmother.  Apprently my great grandmother Gertrude Galtress (nee Harrison) lived on this road.  My aunt in the photo is only a baby and I believe she was born about c1950.  Would anyone be interested in taking a look at this photo and possibly letting me know what the celebration was.  Or maybe you knew someone at the party.

Would be good to hear from anyone that can help!

Thanks

If the baby looks about 3, it was probably the time of the Coronation of our Queen when many street parties were held.
