HI jonjam,

Have just found your birth, unintentionally.

Now I understand your monika.  Wink

Some kind Dumfresian, of which there are many, may check for headstones at Dryfesdale cemetery, for you. Photos are always great to include with your records.

Just in case you weren't aware, your grandfather died in 1936 aged 72, in Dryfesdale.

Hi jonjam, Jamjar and ev

In September I have a weeks holiday so I will go over to Dryfesdale cemetery and look for any Studholme monuments, my gggrandfather Archibald Graham is buried there too but no headstone.

A lot of the headstones have weathered badly due to the graveyards hilltop location as I remember.

That would be nice of you, Wul.  Cheesy

I've been through there a couple of time and have found my ancestors headstones.

All the names of folk buried there can be found on their office's computer. There was an extremely kind and helpful lady working there, also.

hi its jonjam again. isee you have been hard at it.to bring a little more light into the picture ihave got info from 1936 as i was 12yrs old and can remember his death and funeral butwas not sutre of the dates until now.under your list of his children only the last four were his children.the other two were not.arthur died approx 1967,j.j. was killed in world war  one. charles in 1975, elizabeth in approx 1985(she was my mother).this is about as much as i know but am not sure of the dates so they must be treated as approx.mary elizabeth nee knowles was i think my grandfathers wife(my grandmother).the part i have no ideas about are the years between staveley(where he was born and his last five years at dryfe bridge which are very hazy.jamjar my email address is:-  jjs2006@blueyonder.co.uk and i look forward to hearing more from you.i have not been in dryfesdale cemetery fo around 20 years but by what you say it must be in a state now, thank you again, will be in touch if i progress any further.

Hi to you

I have sent on the documents.

Do you have proof that Sarah Annie - Annie - wasn't their child. I think she may have been as she is named after John's mother.

Thanks Jamjar and ev  Wink

I had to reduce the images to 640 x 480 to get below the 500k limitation for posting pictures so if anybody wants the full size images that are 2272 x 1704 and about 900k I will be happy to mail them.

Here is another picture that shows both headstones taken before I found the second!

It is to the the right of the white marble stone on the left, if that makes sense.

hi jam jar,jon jam here with a questionabout the certificates you sent. one of them i don't unedrstand as there is no mention of anyone i recognise as being in the studholme family or living in the edinburgh region. the one is  the one with hamiltons, geikie and slater on it.you mentin a marriage ducumenton 6th august and asked for my email address .was this the one i should have got. the marriage was in kendal you say.will wait to hear from you. i cant get any more info on my site for free so i think i shall have to buy some viewing time as i will soon be trying to trace my dear wife's family.once iget some back ground from her only surviving family as he once tried to find out about them years ago but as he had no computer hedidn't have alot of success.
      thanks again .

Hi Jonjam,

Here is my previous reference for the Marriage for John and Mary. You would need to purchase a copy of the certificate:

Hi Jonjam,

I have found a possible marriage in Kendal:

December quarter 1893

Mary Elizabeth Knowles 10b 1124

John Studholme 10b 1124

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com

Jamjar

I didn't send you anything with an Edinburgh connection, with names of Hamilton, Geikie, or Slater.

I sent: Mary Studholme - Daughter of John and Mary - Marriage
Mary Studholme-Richardson -  Daughter of John and Mary - Death
Sarah Annie- Daughter of John and Mary - Death
Charles Studholme - son of John and Mary - Birth
Elizabeth Agnes Studholme - Daughter of John and Mary - Birth
Studholme 1901 Census

So, I sent 6 documents and 3 photographs.

Take care, Jamjar
