There is no Studholme/Stuholme on the 1851 census.

Could you give some information about what you are looking for and the connection to Dumfries, please?

Have you checked the census' and on ScotlandsPeople?  http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/

Do you not have any information on the person you are looking for. You have mentioned a 'him'. Does he have a name? The slightest information often helps.  Wink

I'm guessing this is related on the '71 census

STUDHOLME John  a widow at 55 year. Bobbin Turner born Westmorland - Hugil
Elizabeth Daughter 32years born Lancashire - Satterthwaite
Sarah J Grandaughter 9 years   born Westmorland - Staveley
BEETHAM    Elizabeth a Lodger 20 years Westmorland

I can't find them on the '61.

Hi Ev,

Too many John's for me to follow now.

If Wul's is the correct family then John should be on a '71 census somewhere, aged about 7. In '81 he'd be about 17 and should be married by the '91.

Have I got that correct?

Umm, so who's his pappa?

Wonder if the Sarah on the '71 is the sister of the John who died in 1936?

And if so, where was he?
