Hi all,

Things have moved on a bit in my research into the possible father of William Henry Marshall b. Union Workhouse, Barnsley in 1857, son of Mary Marshall.  My brother has recently had his DNA tested, and we have come up with a close match with a person by the name of Wood, whose family is from the Derbyshire/Cheshire area.  I have checked the 1851 and 1861 census records for the name Wood in Barnsley, and have come up with a William Henry Wood b. about 1834, living at Rich lane, Barnsley in 1851, and at Church Street, Barnsley in 1861, in both instances with his widowed mother Ann and younger sister Lucy Ellen.

I know it is a pretty long shot, but it seems tempting to think that he was the one, especially as Mary named her son William Henry.  Does anyone have this family in their tree?  Also, has anyone by the name of Wood from Barnsley had their Y-DNA tested?  Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Carol
