hillmorton births
« on: Wednesday 22 July 09 16:28 UTC (UK) »

I am trying to trace a relative who was born in Hillmorton abt 1795. I know her first name was Ann but not her maiden name (she married into the Moss family). I think her name might have been Chester or Chesterton but this is pretty much a guess at this stage.

My query is this, I can search the IGI batch records but do not know where Hillmorton would come under. I can't find Hillmorton listed and so I looked under Rugby but the only church there whose records cover the right time period is St Andrews and no luck.

Where would people in Hillmorton have worshipped?

Ann's husband was born in Kent and they were in Leicester by 1831 when their son Samuel Richard was born but I have no idea where they met and married either.
Any ideas?
Thanks very much,

Hi Chris
Warwick Record Office has the parish church of Hillmorton records.  If you log on to British History on line there is a history of Hillmorton, which gives the church as St. John the Baptist.
            Hope this helps.
