Hi there, hope you are still looking for this family. i have found them on both the 1841 and 1851 Scottish Census

Hi again 2nd installment!
found a catalogue held in the National Library of Scotland called Scottish Book Trade Index (SBTI) and found your Liddells there. use this link, then scroll down the page until you come to the Liddells. If you explore the site further and look up Armstrong I think you will find Jessie Liddell's (ms Armstrong) family too. there are also Davidson's. (see below)
1stly Found a marriage date on IGI for Peter and Jessie 31 Dec 1842 St Cuthberts Edinburgh, and Jessie's parents - Thomas Armstrong and Jane Grieve from her sister Jemima's birth record 6 Oct 1828.
2ndly Found various mems of family across several other census.
1851

Robert age 24 1827(26) son Engraver and Printer (master employing 1 man and 2 other Allied)
Margaret 27 1824 daughter Shopkeeper & Plesher (pos flesher)
Jessie Ferguson Liddell 6 1845 ? daughter ?granddoughter.
