Folks,

I am looking for a sanity check - please bare with me.

Charles Skene Slora was born to John Slorach of Forres and his wife Elizabeth (MS Murray) from Duffus in Old Machar between 1848 and 1852 - I think; I can't find a BC.

In the 1851 Census, a 1 year old Charles S Flora and his family (all with the names that I would have expected) are noted in Old Machar. 

I can find no reference to a Charles Flora/Slora/Slorach in the 1861 Census: I can find a William Flora and a James and Jane Slora of the correct ages.

On 27 Apr 1867 Charles S Slora, an apprentice corkcutter living at 22 Spa Street in Aberdeen, married Susan Gammack, the daughter of William Fraser and Jean Gammack, at her home, 21 Jopp's Lane, Aberdeen.

The Slora family are all on the census in 1871, '81 and '91; although Charles is in a different abode from the rest of the family in 1891.

Susan Gammack is the daughter of Jean Gammack and William Fraser.  They did not marry; Jean did marry James Coutts  and James, Jean and Susan are all on the 1861 Census.

Susan Slora died in 1883 and was named as the wife of Charles Skene Slora and that she was the illegitimate daughter of William Fraser and Jean Gammack, the wife of James Coutts.

I can't find a BC for Charles Slora - am I on the right line?

This looks like the family's 1861 entry:

John Slora 54, Dorks Lodge Keeper b. Forres
Eliza Slora 50 b. Duffus
Jessie E M Slora 14 Match Bore Maker  b. Old Marchar
Charles S Slora 10 b. Old Marchar

Address: 22 24 Spa St, St Nicholas

Can't see what you have missed in your summary Stuart  Smiley

There were no OPR births that we could find earlier for the children of John and Elizabeth unfortunately.
