The ARMSTRONG family from Sligo to Canada

 Hi everyone, I am looking for information on my gr-gr-grandfather MICHAEL ARMSTRONG born in 1826  somewhere in Sligo County, Ireland.  He emmigrated to Canada sometime before 1850.  He married ELIZA EWING (born January 25, 1831 in Ireland) in 1850 in Rosemont, Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada.  They had  12 children.   I would like to find out more about MICHAEL ARMSTRONG and possibly his wife ELIZA EWING (she may have been born in the same area as him, they may have known on another before coming to Canada).  They were Anglican, Church of England.  MICHAEL was a farmer.

Any leads at all would be nice.

Hei Angela,

Why do you think Michael Armstrong comes from Co. Sligo ?
Do you have a marriage certificate and possibly a birth certificate for him.

If Michael was a head of household before he emigrated then you need to do a search through five parishes -
Achonry, Calry, Drumcliff, Kilfree and Killaran but if he was not a head of household he will be more difficult to find. Families by the name of Armstrong also appeared in the following parishes Ballysadare, Easky, Emlaghfad, Kilmacshalgan, Kilmoremoy, Kilvarnet, Skreen, St John amd Templeboy
