Help in finding marriage please abt 1908/9.

I have a birth of Louis Boriani 1911 Portsmouth parents
Claudio Boriani and Maggie Roxburgh
Would very much like to find their marriage. Louis may not have been first born so possibly a few years before 1911.
Any help most appreciated. Smiley
PS I have now got family on 1911 census Louis not born yet. but there is a sister Maria age two and a half. States they have been married three years. Have looked quarter by quarter on Ancestry under both names - no luck

Since I think Maria was born in the London area (?), it may well be that they married there.

Where was Maggie Roxburgh from?  Might they have married elsewhere e.g Scotland (although the name Boriani does not show up in the index there at all) or Ireland.

Yes I do agree with you, think they may have married in London. I can't read Maggies birthplace on 1911 census but it does give her age and there is only one Roxburgh that fits and birth place doesn't tie in with 1911 census. I will try and attach to see what you think.

I can't see the image snippet properly, the actual birthplace looks awfully faded.  I wouldn't like to say what it says, but there is one Maggie Roxburgh born in Islington in 1884, her father's name was Alexander, tinsmith, born in Scotland.  I've found the family in 1891 and 1901.  But absolutely no luck with a marriage - I suspect poor transcription.

Yes I saw that one, thanks for looking, it is the most likely but without marr. cert. to comfirm father we just can't be sure. Undecided I do agree poor transcription, such a bind.

Boriani does not appear in the SP index 1901-1911 (already tried that), but there are 2 records for Maggie Roxburgh between those dates. 

However, given that their first children were born in London and that it looks as if Maggie was born in London, it would seem a little strange for her to go to Scotland to get married.  However, I could be wrong.  Wink

Yep, I feel the Maggie you found on census is probably her. I have found a death for Claudio 1922 which I have sent off for but it's so frustrating as I can find nothing on the Boriani front apparently there should be something re WW1 and possibly incoming passengers as he has to have entered UK at some time. ARRGGGGGGG.

Claudios death cert. has arrived and informant is J Hook brother in law so I have been hunting for a marriage of a J Hook to a Roxburgh, nothing showing. Undecided

It could equally be a Boriani who married a Hook.  Can't see one of those either.  Sad

I Have Maria's birth cert 1908 add 16 = 1924
Claudios death 1922 and Hook is already married so not a Boriani.
