Hi All
I have a problem I have 2 James Allum father and son who are both married to Ann.
1 James Allum b 1806 Standon married to Ann Griffin 2March 1833 Standon
2 James Allum b 1772 Standon married to Ann Griffin 20Feb 1800 Standon
This info is via the IGI Site is not on Freereg or Ancestry.
I have checked the HALLS online index and they agree with the info on James 1.
They do not have James 2. I cant believe they are both married to Ann Griffin and it just goes to support the IGI cant be taken as evidence.
I would be grateful for any ideas or informationwhich can resolve this.
Many thanks

Hi
The marriages are both on the Allen Index on the HALS site as you quote them except James 1 marries Ann Griffen - wonder why only one showed for you

Hi Jan
Thanks for your reply I cant understand how I overlooked it.
So they both married Ann Griffin this is very unusual and is going to make tracing the line further back fraught with problems.
Thanks once again.
kind regards Janice

Hi Janice
I think ancestors did it to confuse future generations I found one 4x g grandfather having children with a Sally over an impossibly long period - he married two Sallys and was still fathering children in his 80's overlapping with is son, producing Aunts and Uncles younger than their nieces and nephews!
Never come across a father and son marrying someone of exactly the same name though - could take some untangling.

Hi Jan
thanks for your reply, fancy your ggggrandfather still fathering at 80. I only hope with my lot that it wasnt inbreeding even though its in the distant past .We of the present generation are of normal appearance and intelligence so hopefully its been bred out.
Been trying to find births of both Anns without success 1 born 1811 2 born 1780 and just hope there isnt an Allum in there as they were all born Standon.
Wouldnt it been nice if they called their children by different names but then our job would be so much easier.
Thanks once again Jan.
kind regards
Janice

Hi Peter
You must be telepathic I was only thinking of those this morning whilst shopping in Tescos. I was thinking this cant be right both of them marrying a Anne Griffin but clearly they did. I can now put them in the family tree with confidence. You are a STAR thank you very much. Can I impose further excuse the presumption but if you have access to the Standon parish records could you look up the baptisms records for both Annes please. 1 Anne b 1811 2 " b 1780
Dont worry if you cant Im just very grateful for what you have done for me.
Many thanks Janice
