Registration District
« on: Friday 24 July 09 14:21 UTC (UK) »

I think I have found a relative who gives her place of birth as Wood Newton, Northamptonshire. Could someone please tell me which registration district it would come under so I can look for her marriage and also if there are any Parish Records available as she was born circa 1831.

I would hazard a guess at Peterborough...but not too sure.

Thanks Chris.  Smiley

I've searched for some information about the village but I can't find anything. I don't suppose you know why?

Chris it's showing up as not being found and error on page. But the site does date back to 2000 So it may not have been maintained for long.

I.m looking for the birth/christening of Mary Ann Peach circa 1832 is there anywhere I can find it. It's not on familysearch so I am completely stuck now.

Hi Margaret

You could try http://freereg.rootsweb.com/cgi/Search.pl

This is an ongoing project so the information could appear at a later date

It may be worth posting the information you have on the Northamptonshire Lookup Board and see if any one there can help

Do you have any information to confirm the birth/baptism as 1832 from a marriage or later census by any chance?

Try the following site

http://www.sirthomasboughey.staffs.sch.uk/wood/

If you put the following into your search engine (google?) then lots of information will be found.

woodnewton history

Note that the name Woodnewton is all one word.

Brilliant. Thanks Dave. I have been using both ways of spelling it just in case.

Might she belong to this couple who married in Wood Newton?

Mary Ann Peach married Joseph Tidswell 3nd quarter 1864 in Spalding.

But on the 1861 census they have 4 children the eldest of which is 8 so that puts a marriage date circa 1851. I have searched every web site I can to find a marriage for a Tidswell to a Peach and found nothing except the 1864 one.

On the 1851 census Mary Peck/Pech age 18 is living with her mother Susannah and step father Joseph Robinson with a younger brother Thomas Peck/Pech  age 16 and Robinson siblings age 4 and 1.

I found the marriage of a Susannah West to a Thomas Peach 4th Oct 1830 in Woodnewton so I think this marriage is correct but I can't find a marriage for a Susannah Peach to a Joseph Robinson in Spalding.

All so confusing LOL Smiley
