Scottish Prisoners
« on: Saturday 25 July 09 14:46 UTC (UK) »

I recall reading that Scottish prisoners taken from the Royalist side in the Civil War were put to work in the Fens. Does anyone know of this practice occurring closer to Bedfordshire?
Thanks.

I've just found refs to the Earl of Bedford & the drainage of the Fens in excerpts of a  book "The River Makers" by Trevor Bevis"
Also, Google up the following:

Battle Dunbar Scottish Prisoners
