I love the idea of a referee-bashing gran.  Just think - any misdemeanours on your part you can blame it on the genes  Grin

The ‘books from out the back’ were done by a major Spartans fan but too recent.  Apparently there are some more which one of our local historians has borrowed - they could be earlier.  Maybe a phone call to him might answer a few questions.

I've just checked my book and although there is a Robert Amos in it, I don't think it's your grandfather.  This one was born in Grimbsy and played for Worksop, Bury and Accrington Stanley  Undecided

Most of the management and board of Blyth Spartans are relatively new.

However there was/is one man at the club, who is best placed to know of the team in it's earliest days. No he isn't aged 130 yrs, but he runs the memorabilia section of the club shop, which specialises in match programmes, old and new.

Unfortunately I have forgotten his name ( but he goes under a nickname-which I will PM to you- no, it isn't rude)
