Ealing Parish Register Look Up Please

Hi

Could somebody please look up the following for me if they get a chance:

William Evans - born in Ealing, Middlesex somewhere around 1790 - 1800.  He was in the 1851 census aged 58 but now living in Clerkenwell but it states he was born in Ealing.

If anyone could help that would be brilliant.

Ealing parish registers are deposited at the London Metropolitan Archives.
To search any parish register in the London area for a ten year period can be very time consuming because most of these parishes had large populations. Even a year can sometimes take a suprising amount of time, so really you have to be as specific as possible when requesting a look up.
Many people want lookups in London/Middlesex parish registers which isn't surprisng considering the historic population size of London, but I'm afraid at present only my co-moderator seems to be offering to do any and she has quite a backlog.
Obviously it is easier to do lookups where indexes exist for parishes and thos requests can be tackled quickly. I'm not aware the London Metropolitan Archives has an index for Ealing baptisms for this period.

The good news is eventually (though it may be somewhile) London parish registers will be digitalised.

Hi Lisa

As Valda explained, a 10 year search is very time consuming and I only have 30mins at the London Metropolitan Archives during my lunch time.

I'm happy to go and do the look-up for you but could I ask you to contact Ealing Local Studies first and see if they can help. (They may even do the look-up for you if they have the time)

They have copies of the registers for St Mary's Ealing and may have a baptism index of their own making that they can consult more easily.

Hi

Thanks very much for the replies and information.  I will contact the Ealing Local History Centre and see if they have the information that I need and I will let you know.

I wish I didn't live so far away and it was easier to get to these places to do the look-ups myself!  I don't like imposing on people but when you are so desperate to find out about an ancestor and cannot get to the records offices it gets very frustrating!
