William HOLBOURNE - Trying to locate Burial at Chipping Barnet
« on: Monday 27 July 09 16:25 UTC (UK) »

Unfortunately the National Burial Register seems to cover only from 1800 onwards.  So searching for a burial for William Holbourne, hopefully with an age or year of birth to confirm that we have the right William - target years would be 1772 to 1800.  Almost certainly at Chipping Barnet as he seems to have married twice there.  Not sure if or where these records may be available.

Also burials for Sarah Holbourne, between 1764 and 1772 and Hannah Holbourne after 1772 would be helpful.

Spelling can vary - Holborne, Holbourn, Holborn etc.

Thanks

Thanks Peter.  Two assists in one day!!

Actually this is not the William I am after, but it is relevent and helpful.  Sarah was the first wife of our William and it seems he married again in 1772 so what you have found is absolutely on the money and what I would have expected, but the confirmation is very helpful in validating the theory.

As far as William, the infant is concerned, the only William Holbourns I have are the one I was looking for who was tentatively born in 1715, and two others born 1764 and 1792 so it seems that the death in 1786 was none of the above.  Another mystery!

Best

Thanks Peter.  Not managed to pin down a death record for William yet, but it was clearly after 1772 and having tracked down a settlement hearing for his son, James in 1785, there is some narrative in that which suggests William was dead by then.....so getting there!

Best, Brett
