occupation. Bricks Putters Down?

In 1911 census my aunts aged 20 and 17 their occupation was Bricks Putters Down.  What did that job entail?

hi,,are you sure it says putters ?  a putter was someone employed to haul coal tubs in a coal mine,,,,,a pugger was someone employed by brickmakers to produce clay paste by treading like grapes,,,usually women and or children,,,,regards,,,Mike,
