hi

trying to get info on a Stella Wealthall  born c. 1884 nottingham ?

we can find her marriage to James foster  in nottingham 1911  and a child born before the marriage in 1909.  but it all draws a blank .

on ancestry.com  if you put in Stella it comes up with Metta Wollthrall Huh??   but even that name doesn't go any where .

any help  with this puzzle would be most welcome .

Can you find any freebmd birth for a Stella at that (1884) time/
what info can be given from the marriage certificate?
What is the full census entry(ies) which I assume you have?

have been through freebmd   only the wedding in 1911 . have gone overthe listings of births in nottingham  just typing in Stella  6 year range of 1884  then cross ref back to census to see if any Stella ? 's mother married a wealthall  and gave  her a different surname .
wedding cert ordered but you know what its like waiting !
on census have try-ed all different variations  nothing.

so i thought i would come back to the old faithfull site and through it in the open arena

IN 1891 she is as you say mistranscribed as Metta Wolthrall  Shocked

But someone has corrected it and the household is as follows.

at 20 Bringham? Street Nottingham

William Winkley unm 37 woodyard labourer all b Nottingham(or could be MINKLEY?)
Mary Wealthall unm 31 lace clipper
Stella " dau  7
William " son 9mths

 confused   well may be just a little now  puzzled greatly .

can not find any of them following on  the 1901 census  not even the william born in 1890.  i've never hit so many brick walls ! 

but thanks for all your help so far  its a lot further than i expected .

please may i ask the following ?  it would help greatly

is there a ref number  for her birth ?

does it give a maiden surname for the mother "mary"

does it show any other children ?

2 other children that I could find

Elizabeth born 28.1.1897, baptised 7.4.1897 to Thomas Wealthall & Mary Ann at St Pauls Carlton, Nottingham, occupation Plate layer address given as Beck St.

I did some research into the surname Wealthall in Nottinghamshire about twenty or so years ago, when researching my Walthall ancestors. Didn't find what I was looking for, but the name has many variations and the earlier (pre census) entries for this family were Wathew(s)/Walthew(s) and Wath(e)y/Watthey.
