Hello Ann Sky,
John Skinner is listed on the 1911 Census - there are many Skinners in Redruth at this time but to access the information you will need to purchase credits - but at least this will give you John's parents names and siblings names for you to work with.
From there you will be able to work backwards - looking for the parents marriage, siblings births and to the 1901 Census where you will probably find John's grandparents etc.
