Hiya,
Was wondering if this street still exists, or if it's been demolished, if anyone knows what has replaced it.
Any information will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Hi
Just had to find that street!
It took a wee while but I know where it was now. You probably know about the old Birkenhead Priory. Leicester St. was in that area.
If you search on Google maps for Priory Street, Birkenhead you'll get to the right place. Leicester St used to run north from St. Mary's Gate up to Old Priory (also gone now). If you look at the satellite photo I reckon it would have followed the line of the boundary between the two large warehouse type buildings now occupying the area.
Look at www.old-maps.co.uk - I found it on the 1913 map of Birkenhead.
Good luck Les

Wow, it's so weird my great great great grandmother lived on that street. Seems a shame that history is knocked down and turned into carparks

Yes, that sounds about right. So the building to the left is the plumbers' place, is it? If so, Leicester St. would have run up the east side of the car park, then between the plumbers' merchants and the next, larger building along St. Mary's Gate.

Les I make it as you turn into Ivy St . Leicester St would have been the first street on the right. The Plumbing merchants and car park goes from the Chester St turn off into IVY St, up to Priory St. I think the back of plumbers merchants would be Old Priory. As you say there are a couple of large warehouses plus other retail businesses in that area. Regards Alan

Yes, that sounds right. Leicster St ran south from its junction with Ivy St to its junction with St Mary's Gate, with a junction to Old Priory part way down on the left.
