Eighth Regiment of Light Dragoons Park Street Plymouth / John Francis Smet

Looking for info. on John Francis Smet who was a surgeon in the Eight Regiment of Light Dragoons. His will was probated October 13 1840 although I have not seen it. I presume that he died in 1840. I also believe that he owned an estate. His daughter Louisa married David James Staig Thorburn. Their son Louis Kenneth Smet Thorburn was born in Plymouth. Any info greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
