Overseas Military
« on: Thursday 30 July 09 15:22 UTC (UK) »

Last night I found the 1901 list of regiments overseas on Ancestry, but this afternoon I've spent two hours looking and I still have had no luck.

If a forum member could help I would be enternly grateful. Im sure the reference No. for the East Surrey Reg. is RD641.

Many thanks

HI

Who exactley are you  looking for?  Knowing the name  may just narrow down the search

I have seen Royal Navy vessels in 1901 census on Ancestry - but never seen army regiments oversees.  I would be very interested to know if there is such a thing..

Hello Wendy

Thanks for getting in touch. My grandfather's name was Henry Alfred Connor No. 2822 East Surrey Regt.

Like Milly above I've seen Royal Navy vessels but the regimental references do not seem to open up the same.

Its probaly me but if any one could make them appear I would be very grateful.

Thanks again

HI John

I didn't think of asking this yesterday but have you checked back on Ancestry to see what your recent activinty was maybe you can retrace your steps and find it again.

Do you have other info on Henry Alfred Connor?

Or is it further background info that you are searching for?

If you want to backwards do you have Henry's DOB and POB?

Wendy

Thanks for your message. I have just remembered that I saw the military and
Royal Navy lists on the Official 1911 Census website. Have not been able to view them yet but at least I know now where they are now.

Sorry to have given you the runarounnd but your help was most appreciated.
