Birth in Bishops Stortford - BEARMAN Completed
« on: Thursday 30 July 09 19:05 UTC (UK) »

Good evening,

I am looking for the birth of an illegimate daughter of Jane Bearman and Robert Ward.

Sorry not sure what I did there!!

It would appear there is a maintenance order for Jane Bearman spinster and Robert Ward of Munden co Essex for their daughter. Robert and Jane eventually married on 11th July 1807 in B/S and a son was born in 1808. They moved to Ugley Essex where the other children were born. I don't seem to be able to find any reference to a child before 1808 to Jane.

Hope someone can help me.

Margaret

Hello,

As far as I am aware William was babtised 6 July 1808 in Ugley Essex. His siblings were also baptised in Ugley. Jane Bearman was born and brought up in Bishops Stortford.

I found the original ref under Quarter Sessions Minute Book.

I think the only chance of finding her is if someone has access to or can do a look up of the parish records for Bishops Stortford.

None appear to be online   Sad

Hi Daiseypetal,

I haven't seen Bearman spelt this way before so anything is possible, all the details look as if it could be the child I am looking for. Elizabeth is a family name. It would have been her grandmothers and an aunt.

I wonder why Robert and Jane left it 18mths before marrying? I wonder what happened to baby Elizabeth?

Thankyou  Margaret
