Hi

There are 4 baptisms showing in Angus:

14 July 1788 to Alexandr Miller -Liff, Benvie and Invergowrie
3 July 1791 to John Miller and Isabell Webster - Dundee
10 May 1792 to Robert Millar and Elison Gleghorn - Montrose
14th Oct 1792 to Patrick Millar and Janet Aiton - Inverkeilor

As Robert was the first child, I would think the Montrose one looks the most likely but then there's the Liff one. It's tricky.

Do you have Ann Waddell's parents' names?  Also, the names of the uncles and aunts?

Father,  Thomas,  and one Grandfather,James.

Strange , that the sons were Robert, John and Charles. Are you sure that these were all the children they had?

The IGI are showing the following sons:

Fowlis Easter

1817 - James
1820 - Charles
1922 -John

Do you have Robert's birth/baptism  or approximate date of birth?  Date of death?

It would be worth your while checking the Wills/Testaments section on Scotlands People www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk  There are a number of possibles listed for a Robert Miller/Millar, merchant

The only will showing for  a Thomas Millar is Thomas Millar (Miller), Wool Merchant, Kirkcaldy dated 9 March 1869 at Cupar Sherriff's Court. I'm doubtful that this is his but I'm also surprised that your Thomas didn't leave a will or at least an inventory.

The problem is that Thomas could have come from various places and settled in Liff. Although, the IGI batch for Liff does have a fair number of Millar/Miller listed.

IGI (extracted)

The Robert Millar that I found in Montrose m. Ellison Gleghorn on 16 July 1780, Montrose

They had the following children:
1781 - William
1783 - Lillias
1785 - Peter
1788 - Ellison
1792 - Thomas

None of these names, apart from Robert's, seem to fit your names and Montrose is some distance from Liff.

A number of burials are showing on Scotlands People for a Robert in both Dundee and Montrose 1793-1854.

Apart from wills, monumental inscriptions (MIs) might well give family names.

The National Library shows that the MIs for Liff have been published and a copy held by the NLS:

http://www.nls.uk/family-history/gravestones/inscriptions/county.cfm?id=13

It might be worth asking for a look up in them for your Millars. Someone on Rootschat may have them.
