Hi,

I thought someone might be interested in this stray:

John  WALLIS  of St Giles, Reading, Berks, belonging to the Berkshire Militia; Married  Dorothy FURNEAUX   30 Jan 1797 in Buckfastleigh Devon.

They had a daughter:
Mary WALLICE  ch 26 Jan 1806  Buckfastleigh.

Mary WALLACE married Bernard CROKER  1st April 1827  Buckfastleigh.

John Wallice died before 1814 as Dorothy married my ancestor, John STENTIFORD (also a widower)  in Buckfastleigh on  29 March 1814.

There are two John Wallis bap St Giles on the IGI, one in 1760 the other in 1774:  most likely the latter:-
John WALLIS son of John and  Sarah  bap 26 JUN 1774   Saint Giles, Reading, Berkshire, England  (mother may be Sarah EXCELL who married a John WALLIS 21 Nov 1769 St Mary Reading).

If anyone can tell me anything more of John or the activities of the Berks Militia I'd love to know.
