B C Lookup
« on: Saturday 01 August 09 14:12 UTC (UK) »

ALFRED ALCOX was born in Herefordshire England in 1882 and was a favorite Uncle of my late Grandad.  He married Charlotte Annie Trigg in 1907.  They Emigrated to Canada in 1910 arriving in Quebec. In the 1911 Canada census Alfred was living in Vancouver City and was in the police force (RCMP?) He died in 1962 aged 78.
I have been unabale to establish whether or not he had any children.  There is talk of someone called Lorretta who was always believed to be his wife, but there is no record of his having divorced Annie - perhaps she could have been a daughter, I don't know.
Is there anyone who could give me more information or tell me where to look.

Hi Lett,

An obituary would help you & dying in 1962 there probably is one to be found. Try random acts of genealogical kindness for a look up.

Cordially,

Link to Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness in BC

Charlotte Annie died 7 Feb 1957 at Vancouver aged 76.  Alfred died 28 Aug 1962 at Vancouver aged 78.  There would be time for a second marriage but BC only releases information on marriages up until 1933.  I agree that an obituary would be very useful or the death registrations as they would list an informant for the death - hopefully someone other than an unrelated doctor.

We do have people on rootschat who help in B.C ( and we are most lucky to have them...)
....but I suggest changing the subject line to "B.C. lookup please" .
Best regards, J.J.

I picked up the two death records from the library. Informant for wife Charlotte Anne was husband A.J. Alcox. Informant for husband, Alfred John Alcox was wife, Loretta Margaret Alcox. So apparently he remarried. He was a retired representative for Lucky Lager Breweries Ltd.
Please send me a PM with your email address and I will forward these records to you.
