Can anyone provide me with any details of the burial of Arundel HARDING in Warminster RD in 1851?
I am hoping that she is the same Arundel HARDING who was visiting in Frome earlier in the year, but I am looking to see if there are any family links that might help to link her into the HARDINGs of Somerset.
Any help would be very welcome.
Many thanks

That would be wonderful Angie. I'll look forward to seeing what you find, as I hope it will link to other members of the same family.
Kind regards

Give me a few days Phil as there are three main churches in Warminster, St Johns, The Minster and St Denys. The Hardings are well known in the Frome area ( just a few miles from Warminster) and the family is still in the area to this day. I noticed from the free bmd that there were a couple of other Hardings buried in Warminster too so will see what I can find. Kind Regards Angie

Hi Angie
I'm wondering if you ever managed to find out any more about Arundel HARDING and where she is buried?
I got in touch with the Rector at Middle Chinnock in Somerset, and she was baptised there on 3 November 1817 (if indeed it's the same person), so she should be around 34 years old in 1851. It would also be great to find whether she is interred in a family grave, since that might prove a link to other members of the same family.
I would appreciate your help with this inquiry if you do get a chance.
Kind regards
Phil

Hi Phil,
Sorry for the delay in coming back to you, I am still on the look-out. I have searched St John's churchyard in Warminster without success, she is not buried there, or if she is then I haven't been able to find her. My best guess is St Deny's and I will try there next. I am away for the next few days but will get to the churchyard next week, hopefully she will be buried there. I'll do my best to find her for you.
Kind Regards Angie

Warminster R(egistration) D(istrict) covers a much wider area than just Warminster:
Bishopstrow, Boyton, Brixton Deverill, Chitterne, Codford St Mary, Codford St Peter, Corsley, Heytesbury, Hill Deverill, Horningsham, Imber, Knook, Longbridge Deverill, Norton Bavant, Sherrington, Stockton, Sutton Veney, Upton Scudamore - and Warminster itself.
That's huge!

Gosh That is huge ! I have since found out that St John's Church in Boreham Road Warminster was built in 1865, no wonder I couldn't find Arundel Harding there... Think we need a little bit more of a clue as to where she might be buried. I'm happy out of curiousity, to have a look around St Deny's and the Minster later next week, they are both nice churches. Regards Angie
Sorry.. St Deny's is the Minster Church, the other church is Christchurch in Sambourne Road.

Hello Phil,
I have been to both Christchurch and St Deny's in Warminster today, and no luck finding Arundel Harding - sorry - I'm not saying that she isn't buried in either of the churchyards, just that I was unable to find her. St Deny's churchyard in particular is in a sorry state, a lot of the gravestones are illegible now, and broken or damaged stones are all lined against the churchwalls. Christchurch was a little better and most were readable still. I was looking for any Harding connection as I noticed from Free bmd that atleast 9 Harding's were buried in the Warminster (district) during the period 1849-1855; I had hoped to find something that may connect your family but was unable to find any Harding's at all - sorry...
Kind Regards
Angie

Many thanks Angie. I am really grateful to you for going to this trouble for me.
As Nell pointed out, the Warminster Registration District covers a very broad area and it's perfectly possible that she was buried in one of the surrounding villages. It's equally possible that there wasn't any headstone, so all things considered this will have to rest until more information comes to light.
Thanks a lot for making time to do this looking for me.
Kind regards
Philip

Wonder if the Parishes closest to Frome might be the best bet:
Corsley or Horningsham ?
